Aims and Scope

iForest is an Open Access, peer-reviewed online journal published by the Italian Society of Silviculture and Forest Ecology (SISEF).

The journal encompasses a broad range of research aspects concerning forest science: forest ecology, biodiversity/genetics and ecophysiology, silviculture, forest inventory and planning, forest protection and monitoring, forest harvesting, landscape ecology, forest history, wood technology.

Of special interest are studies addressing the biological and ecological bases for the sustainable management of forest ecosystems.

iForest is freely and universally accessible online. It has been selected for coverage in the following ISI Thomson Reuters products (Impact Factor expected in the 2012 JCR):

iForest is indexed by Elsevier Products (Scopus™, Embase™, etc), in the directory of Open Access Journal (DOAJ™), and is a member of the Crossref consortium™.

A TOC alert will regularly widespread through the web the table of content of the journal.

Allowing immediate and full availability of journal contents, without any restriction, the Open Access policy aims to enhance citation opportunities of published papers.

Publication Policy

iForest will consider only original manuscripts that have not been published elsewhere and are not under consideration by another journal.

In case of review articles, it is the responsibility of the author to obtain permission from the copyright holder to reproduce figures or tables that have been published elsewhere.

No articles processing charge is applied.

iForest aims to a rapid publication of submitted material in the following sections:

  • Research articles:
original research works that present experimental results, conceptual advances, innovations in research techniques and methods.
  • Review articles:
papers that present the state of the art in a particular field, including metanalysis of published data set.
  • Short communications:
original research articles intended as brief reports of findings.
  • Technical Advances:
Papers that present new research tools, techniques and methods, including new modeling approaches.
  • Progress reports:
a self-review of the author’s achievements related to a specific topic rather than a survey of literature publications.
  • Commentaries:
persuasive comments on recently published research results.

All submitted material must be written in English.

As far as accepted, the articles will be immediately formatted and published online in the final pdf format, in the chronological order of acceptance, within the appropriate section. This is a time saving procedure that can be very helpful to authors, particularly in fast-moving fields.

All published articles remain in our archives in perpetuity for worldwide exposure and visibility.

iForest does not have issue numbers, each volume corresponds to a calendar year.
